A commitment to animal well-being
As an animal nutritionist, Richard Patton is committed to improving the health and well-being of animals. While veterinary medicine is by nature crisis oriented, nutrition is the basis of good ongoing health. When an animal's nutrition is poor, their condition deteriorates over time until crises build one on top of another.

Working for decades with numerous species the world over, Dr. Patton has learned an important fundamental–that left to their own resources, animals tend to thrive. It is in the care of people that things go wrong. Well-intentioned but misinformed animal owners are the cause of most nutritionally based health and behavioral problems.

A simple foundation for animal health
Based on his years of experience, Richard Patton provides information on proper diet. But beyond that, he knows that true communication requires understanding. He also provides the animal owner with the background information they require to understand the needs of their pets or livestock. Having consulted for food and feed companies worldwide, Dr. Patton also brings a unique insight to evaluating commercial animal feed and food products. From pandas and tigers, to cats and cows, nutrition fundamentals are unchanging, and understanding is the key to vibrant health.

Unfortunately, the standard is that our animals survive in spite of us, because of their exquisite adaptability. Richard Patton is available for consultation, talks and lectures.
